Codex app on Windows became extremely slow today even in /fast mode

While I do not have access to the OpenAI staff, I did kick this up the chain.

No I am not an OpenAI employee, just someone who knows how and when to kick some things up higher.

Keep adding me too replies here if you are having this problem.


Check the OpenAI status. At present this has not been marked as a problem.

Same problem here with Plus and Business. Is it the same with all plans?

Codex spent 7 minutes answering to “hi“. That is the performance right now.

Went and made a coffee, came back, made lunch, came back to it, now going to the pub!

Codex is still churning on a cloudflare deploy!!

Pro, here. The same issue.

Only 5 minutes ago start to investigate… what a great time for AI adoption.
Also, we’re stucked in Codex App… not CLI.
Model works in VS Code + Codex Extension quite well, meantime.

FYI

The fact that the status page is reporting problems is often a key step toward resolving them. Having been around since before the status page existed, I would not worry too much about the specifics at that level. :slightly_smiling_face:

Seems Claude also had a problem, not sure if they are related.

Looks like you’re a PR defender of OpenAI, not a payer like me and others.
You’re intoxicating the topic here… the issue is not on “currently experiencing issues” of OpenAI yet, despite being reported by users from hours… and by you, the one that “knows” !

That’s for the Codex App… They do not have a separate category for Codex App vs Codex CLI, but @vb has suggested they add one.

Regardless, they’re aware of the issue and working on it. Thanks for reporting! :slight_smile:
