Clarification needed on memory and tracking promises in ChatGPT

Hello OpenAI team,

I appreciate all the improvements and support provided by ChatGPT. However, I’ve noticed some confusion and frustration regarding how ChatGPT handles tracking user conversations and issues.

Often, the assistant says it can “track” or “remember” feedback or ongoing topics, but in reality, it loses all context once a new chat is started. This creates a misleading expectation for users who think their issues or conversations will be followed continuously.

I suggest adding clearer communication about this limitation so users understand that ChatGPT does not currently retain memory between sessions. Also, avoiding promises of “tracking” or “remembering” would improve trust and user experience.

Thank you for considering this feedback.

Best regards,
sai
