Not only having the same problem, but it is making really simple syntax issues with code then offering debugging problems when it has simply put a typo in a variable, these are not problems I have ever encountered with it before, especially when it repeats the same mistakes. I feel like the 4o or o3 models arent actually being used and syphoning me off on to a 3.5 model
Having the same problems. The last several days, ChatGPT 4.0 has been extremely slow and hangs mid response of literally minutes at a time. I am also on Fiber and have gigabyte speed Internet. This is clearly an issue on the ChatGPT side of the aisle as multiple people are reporting this issue. As a paid subscriber, I expect you to keep your product in good working order. It is clear that there is an issue of some sort on the back end. Please address this as having to wait up to 5 minutes for a response is ridiculous considering days ago these responses took no more that 15-30 seconds.
Looks like OpenAI is either favoring other users (pro?) or doesn’t have enough resources to keep running everything properly. The least they could do is to acknowledge the problem. But no, support just thanked me for my “feedback”. Unbelievable.

chatGPT 4o is basically unusable for me. It’s slow, takes forever to render a response. I’ve cleared cache, cleared memories, deleted unused chats. I noticed the slow down when new features (canvas and projects) were added…
This is a good tool for coding if, like me, you have no idea how to code. As soon as I started asking gpt to build scripts for me, the lag began. The more scripts I asked it to create or evaluate, the longer the delay in response. Is anyone else who is experiencing this lag, also using gpt to help with coding? Just curious. Maybe I’m giving this thing more work than it can handle.
I’m a paid user and have been experiencing these issues ever since ChatGPT 4o came out. I use the older models to get a better experience. It’s denied me when I’ve requested to send feedback before, so I don’t bother anymore.
Sometimes I switch back to ChatGPT 4o to see if it’s improved, just to be reminded why I left it alone. It’s overall unusable. It hangs on questions, freezes, lags, or just ignores commands all together. And don’t get me started on the inline editor function. It should never have left testing with as bad as it is.
As for my WiFi, I’m on a cable connection with perfect speed. I use a gaming laptop that can handle everything fine, but Chat GPT 4o chokes up. I’m beginning to wonder what I’m paying for.
I ended up finding why it is slow, the conversation is too large, it returns to all the discussions each time, ask it to make you a summary, open a new conversation, copy and delete the old one, and all of a sudden, it is fast.

You might be on to something; I’ve been working in chats with lengthy histories and responses lag and lag and lag. I just opened a new chat, and it seems to be running faster.
Yeah long chat is an issue. But last couple of days o1-pro has gotten significantly slower, despite fresh chats
Same for me it’s been awful for months. I thought it was because I switched to the free version again so I had to join Plus membership back and but it’s still the same crap as before. I use almost daily for work and it’s a big sign it canned be relied on. It’s feel like a glorified tech toy so far.
I am having the same issues with ChatGPT 4.o taking so long. I am wired directly and have fiber 1 gbps.

Me too, same issue simple prompts timeout or the response feed is extremely slow. Archiving all conversations makes no difference. All the regular, browser, cache, WAN speed, etc., solutions makes no difference. Problem is definitely on the OpenAI side. I’m also on a paid account.
You’re not alone. My computer and wifi is capable to run multiple tabs and games simultaneously, but for this one Chat is lagging and error messages pops up 3 or 4 times for a single message. However, it is only for 4o on my device.

Same here! A couple a months ago you could notice when the US market waked up but now I feel it’s getting worse every day.
Yes! I have been totally noticing it being slow and thinking for long extended periods. It will say, “analyzing”. And it is nothing difficult.
Also I am having it help me create a course. And it is taking days to have it create even one module. ChatGpt use to work in lightening speed time with fairly good precision on information it gave, etc. I am actually considering moving to another platform. This has been happening for easily a month or so. Very sad. I love ChatGpt.

I have genuinely tried everything, but it seems like chatgpt is getting slower and slower by the day. Today I had to keep switching tabs and pages because it couldn’t handle my requests anymore. To the point if i sent a message it just ignores it, or the message i sent gets deleted. Very infuriating when the chatgpt plus is not exactly a cheap subscription. I’ve expected better, ill be looking for different options.

Why we pay for that if its so slow and limiting us so fast? I using another AI als alternative now and will buy there sub for test…
4/9/2025 … again for second day in a row … slow, unresponsive, only proving a portion of the output. ChatGPT techs ? what is going on and when will this get fixed? I would like my April fee credited back please. Thank you.

Today is 4/9/2025, and it’s no longer funny to be a paying subscriber while ChatGPT fails to respond in a timely manner. I’ve been experiencing response delays of 10 to 15 minutes since the beginning of this month. This is nothing short of aggravating.
