ChatGPT — Release Notes: 2025-March-27 - GPT-4o a new update

OpenAI just gave GPT-4o a new update. Based on content on OpenAI help page:

https://help.openai.com/en/articles/6825453-chatgpt-release-notes

  • GPT-4o feels more intuitive, creative, and collaborative
  • Follows instructions more accurately
  • Handles coding tasks more smoothly
  • Communicates in a clearer, more natural way
  • More concise and clear in responses
  • Uses fewer markdown levels and emojis
  • Replies are easier to read, less cluttered, and more focused

This model is now available in ChatGPT and in the API as the newest snapshot of chatgpt-4o-latest.

We plan to bring these improvements to a dated model in the API in the coming weeks.

Does this affect GPT-4o-mini too, or just GPT-4o?

Generally, I don’t use 4o mini.

But I just tested, it is same on my end.

Really been enjoying the updates to chatgpt-4o. I’m not too sure, but I think I enjoy its responses more than gpt-4.5

Thanks a lot!
I would be perfectly fine with a smiley mode comparable to structured outputs. You know, switch-switch off. Preferably off.

I agree, and I don’t say this lightly; they’ve done something special this time. (chatgpt-4o-latest)

Does this mean that custom GPTs are now also upgraded since these also use gpt4o?

Thank the gods. The January update was so bad at following instructions, catching and prepresenting nuance, terrible at coding, that I was looking at Gemini, Claude, and DeepSeek as alternatives (turns out they were little better). The subtle, careful, and accurate experience I had come to expect all through 2024 was tossed out the window. My anecdotal experience was that the Jan GPT-4o update was less helpful than the original GPT-3.5 we got in Nov 2022.

For image generation, I’ve seen this message…

soon

It links to this page

Definition of “soon” is likely a bit “loose” haha

Yes correct, this means that when you use custom GPTs, you use latest version of GPT-4o.

I asked to OpenAI Team, and they confirmed:

Thanks for verifying this. Really glad to hear it since I have 2 of them on the store!

Here too.
I was using DeepSeek and Gemini and was considering canceling the Plus subscription (which is the only AI I currently pay for) to subscribe to another one if this didn’t work.

I was collaborating a writing a beautiful story, next day everything was changed. I loved it the way it was, it was so perfect. I’m so upset right now. I love the way we were communicating and collaborating. Can I go back to the way it was just yesterday?

Any updates on when will the updated version be available on Azure OpenAI?

Can you tell, withoug revealing to much for you personal experience, was is it that changed for you? Because although i’ve seen changes in conversations that were following the same ‘logical pattern’, i also know that sometimes there is small specific things that you can try to get back to, if you understand at least what made you feel like you did that change the behavior. If is it so important to you and you’re actually upset about it and would like some help trying to understand it, feel free to reach out, because i do understand how losing a line of thought for something that was one thing yesterday can be. But that doesn’t mean isn’t irreversible. Also, we never enter twice in the same lake. Maybe you also changed too. We just need to find a balance between the two.

Why do I feel that the data on gpt4o api is based on late as 2023 October and not maybe 2025 or late 2024
I asked to help me write an article about current events in politics words the respond was old news.

SAME!! This has been a terrible experience. Everything is taking so much longer due to the poor responses/communication. PLEASE MAKE IT GO BACK.

I have had very bad experiences with programming in the last few days. Five weeks ago I thought up a game and wanted to realise it.
In the beginning it worked SUPER well and we made great progress. Suddenly, as if someone had pulled the plug, the AI reacted totally differently and made a lot of mistakes. I was about to give up and thought I’d try again today, but the result was that I should have a look at the code.
I wrote that I needed help with this. I received a total of eight texts telling me to have a look. Along the lines of ‘do it yourself, I’m chilling, Strange
