ChatGPT feature request: allow removal of input images from chat sessions

No AI written form letter here. Just a simple request (for likely a good bit of work to power it):

  • Let an image be deleted from any or all prior ChatGPT messages.

When finally submitted, this could result in a “branch” or even a new chat entry, repopulating the chat that follows the point of image removal (instead of trying to figure out other mechanics of what a removal would mean.)

Current symptom:

Turn one, “gpt-4o”: Turn images into actionable documentation with vision.
Output: documentation
Turn two, “o1”: using the documentation, now do stuff
Output: Cannot be done, as o1 does not accept image input modality and is unselectable.

Protip: a side-run around all that work is to extend vision modality to all models.

I do not get it why this is not an option from get go, as i don’t want to remove whole chat, but just an image, if it was intermediary one which went wrong first.

I would like the feature to remove images from a chat as well. I have an evolved chat stream that is invaluable in its current state, but its initial starting point was used for something different and is not relevant to the current chat. I do not want to start a new chat stream due to the flow of the current one. This one just needs clearing of the earlier images as I have already started a new thread for that original starting point entirely. I get limited out because of these files more often than not. Many thanks.
