ChatGPT 4.0 HANGS on Chrome, Safari, Edge when working on a long thread, but works in the mobile app

Paid user here, been frustrating to use ChatGpt 4.0 since past 10 or so days. Tried everything I read online, but it looks very very slow to provide answer on browser while the same answer has already been shown on mobile app.

System: macbook Pro (Intel 2020)
Broser: Latest Chrome, Edge, Safari on macos Sonoma 14.4

When I ask a question, while I wait for answer, I also noticed that Google Chrome Helper uses 270% of CPU in Activity Monitor. Looks like it is stuck doing some processing.

I have been using this LONG thread where I am getting help from ChatGPT to develop new software logic. If I switch to a new clean thread, I don’t see this issue. But I am worried I will have to re-tell GPT all the things I have done in the previous thread.

I tried logging back in, cleaning cache, etc, but I keep seeing same issue. Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Same issue here… since 4o, i get “Result code hung” every time when working with long codebases. I have to either wait 3 to 5 mins until it unfreezes or restart the tab. I noticed that since the last update it consumes up to 5GB of RAM even if i work with smaller context. Maybe UI is overengineered?

Same situation. I use it to analyze a paragraph and at first it was near instantly.
Now takes forever and usually it does something else and not what was instructed.
I’m paid user too.
