[Bug][Apps SDK] Fullscreen displayMode opens blank page on Android when the widget is displayed below the llm-generated text

Hey there,

Continuing the discussion from [bug] Apps SDK fullscreen opens blank on Android when widget/app is invoked in the first message of a new conversation:

I’ve experienced a similar problem for a few days now on my Android app, so there might have been a regression somewhere ?

Small difference though, the issue seems to appear depending on the order in which the llm-generated text and the widget are displayed:

Case 1

  • [widget] displayed first
  • [llm-generated text] right below

→ fullscreen works

Case 2

  • [llm-generated text] displayed first
  • [widget] right below

→ fullscreen doesn’t work

Case 2 happens when the widget takes quite a while to load (API roundtrips, big _meta). There might be a racing condition somewhere causing the fullscreen to bug?

Anyone experiencing the same issue ?

    • First turn: user-facing text is displayed first and widget is shown at the bottom, below the text
      → fullscreen doesn’t work
    • Second turn: widget get shown instantly, then below the user-facing text is generated & displayed
      → fullscreen works

      → fullscreen works

I can confirm that we’re seeing the exact same behavior in our MCP app as well.

When the widget is displayed before the LLM-generated text has finished, fullscreen mode works as expected on Android. However, when the widget is displayed directly below the completed LLM-generated text, opening it in fullscreen results in a black blank screen. This seems to happen specifically on android and not on iOS or website

It would be great if you could look into this and help get it fixed.
