Are you building/using MCP Servers/AI tools?

How often do you build/use MCP servers/ AI tool. How long does it take to build a server with auth, analytics, and hosting?

depends bro

this self hosted git with reverse proxies and ssh + pats + oath + https took me about a day

the MCP server that it connects to - about 2 days( lots of bugging and debugging)

the tools they use a few hours.

front end that pulls from the git? about a day. linking postgrest, grafana, promethus, kubrukers through docker and security on the whole thing with proper CI/CD linked into a custom GPT and api pipeline? a day.

terraform automation - 5 days, thats pretty hard tbh

i havent really played with these yet tbh, but since i was able to automate the first parts im pretty confident GPT can be integrated with these - gimmie a few days ill have more insight.

i aint quite figured out how to link the front end INTO the automation, but thats because im stupid - but i suppose if i spend the 60$ a year to get .ai that would be a start, im pretty sure one can spin up a html pipeline - i just havent been bothered enough to do it, if you find someone who has lmk tho , would save me a ton of time.

all n all , everything in this small scope took me about a week. I didnt know what a SSH was or pat until i had to dive in. tbh NOT fun. but again “ im stupid” im sure people could bang out websites in less time

AH I SHOULD POINT OUT - i used gpts oss 20b locally to do 90% of this, i just automated it. my oss models lives inside the git.

you mentioned server - so again, im self hosted - setting up the actual server unit ( hard initially this took me a few weeks 2 months ago, i didnt know unbuntu or any linux, still dont, i cheated and built a bridge using WSL + docker for my server, cuz again “ im stupid and develop on windows”

my advice not that you asked, but if you are going to build your own. Do not do what i did and pay for the ngrok premium boy that was a waste of taco bell money. but bruh 100% pipe gpt into it.
