I experience this, too, and it’s something different from what is being discussed here.
What you are referring to is clearly a bug and not a change in behavior.
My case in point is that when the model answers the question from the second last prompt it will subsequently also answer the question from the last prompt.
Actually this is exactly what happens with this bug, and this is what people are describing and is the very topic of this thread 
I think maybe you just did not realize it, but it is mentioned if you re-read the thread. The model does not repeat itself without reason. The reason is that the replies have been deleted, and it has no memory of ever answering the original question. I am 100% sure of this.
Every time I notice it repeating itself, I know immediately that the conversation is now messed up, and if I simply refresh the page, I will see that my last few messages were merged together, which is exactly what happens when you delete the AI response from in between them.
You should test it out for yourself, or check your chat archives. This has been going on for months.
I stick to my evaluation because I just had it happen to me.

Just all sounds like the same thing to me to be honest. But if you are confirming that when this happens to you, it is not merging messages in the background (confirmed by reloading page) then for sure you and I are referring to different things.
I feel like maybe you are the only one speaking about this particular thing though, unless I am misinterpreting what is happening to others also.
It’s weird though, because the description of what you all describe is exactly what happens to me too - I have just discovered that the reason is the bug in all my cases.

Yes I read that. They say that it repeats the first answer. If this is always in the beginning of the chat and the entire chat is not saved then it’s different. Just sounds so similar, was surprised it could have been something else.
yeah, when i first type it, it lags out for more than 5 seconds, and then after generating it’s response, just a few seconds after, without me clicking the regenerate button, it just rewrites it, and it does that over and over and over again
I’ve been experiencing the same issue since the GPT-4o model came out. It also happening withe the custom GPTs.
Happening to me as well, seems to happen anytime GPT asks to “continue generating” even though I have specified to keep going without asking. Hopefully a fix is pushed soon.

While i was messing around and asking the issue chat for an explanation, it started to spit out a reply before cutting off and giving a Chat Limit Reached error message.
So I checked the doc with the copy of everything from a chat, and found that ChatGPT had responded to me exactly 300 times. Not sure if this has anything to do with the problem, but looking around online I can’t find any mention of a total entry cap on a single chat.
It’s happening so many times, I am wondering if it’s worth paying for their service anymore, this is making it so unreliable. And it’s getting worst recently.
This problem happens when I ask GPT to check some research papers for me. And what’s worse is it repeats one make-up paper again and again. Even after I told GPT that this paper does not exist.
Personally, the last 3-4 days has been hell for me in working with ChatGPT. Not only does it lock up and get stuck on repeating itself with the same response (even when asking it a different question).
Tonight it randomly spewed out Political Stuff in the middle of a Chat Session regarding Video Cards. Out of nowhere it spewed up NY State Democratic party news at me? Weird AF. Because I have never engaged in political discourse with ChatGPT.
The other strange thing going on, is that the Accuracy of information it’s been providing me is false, worse cases chatGPT has been serving up information with conflicts inside of the information it provides.
Anytime I catch this, and start to address these issues with chatGPT it results in a downward spiral of it repeating itself.
The Quality and Accuracy of the Current ChatGPT is not reliable. This version has become exceptionally Borked up compared to past versions.
This is frustrating, because it’s become so faulty and gets stuck on repeat.
The most disturbing part was it’s random injection of Political News Spew at me??? I don’t engage in Political chat sessions with it. Last thing I want is Political Biased headline news being served up randomly by it, when the conversation is a technical one not even remotely close to it.
It’s been dishing up false and misleading and conflicting information for me for the last 3-4 days too.
Anyways, yeah repeating borked up nonsensical trash that is broken.
Just asked ChatGPT some questions about a fitness machine in my gym, and each time, it repeated itself endlessly until I told it to stop. Annoying.
hey, this was happening to me when i realized i had web search on! no matter what i would type it would respond with the same. then i literally asked why it was repeating itself, got an apology and a link to this post, then the same repeated message. anyways, make sure this is OFF and it will come out of loop mode.
