Allow Explicit NSFW Stuff

Dear OpenAI Team,

I would like to express my concerns regarding the current content policies, specifically the restriction on explicit NSFW content. While I understand the importance of maintaining a respectful environment, I believe there should be room for diverse content, as long as it is consensual and adheres to appropriate boundaries.

I believe the guidelines could be reconsidered to allow more freedom for creative expression while ensuring that safety remains a priority. Thank you for considering my feedback.

Best regards.

As a romance author, I would 100% get a Pro subscription if it offered this, and most of the AI writing group I belong to agree.

This point is 100% valid

Feedback – Creative limitation on emotional and intimate writing

I’m working on a long-form narrative that relies deeply on emotional and physical intimacy to show the growth of two fictional characters. The story is not pornographic; it’s a piece of literary fantasy that explores love, trauma, and identity through an adult relationship.

Recent policy changes have made it impossible to write or refine scenes of intimacy that are essential to the characters’ development. The result is not simply “less explicit writing,” but a major creative fracture — dialogue and emotional realism lose their rhythm, tone, and vulnerability.

I fully support safeguards against abuse or explicit sexual content made for arousal. But these scenes are not that. They are about tenderness, trauma recovery, trust, and the human (or in this case, in-world) need for connection. Without the ability to render those moments honestly, the story loses authenticity and psychological depth.

Please consider adding clearer allowance for fictional, adult, consensual intimacy within creative works, especially when it serves narrative or emotional purpose. The current restrictions make it impossible to complete or evolve ongoing projects that have always been handled responsibly and with artistic intent.

Thank you for listening to those of us who write serious fiction and want to use this tool ethically but truthfully.

I fully support this. To be honest, I tried dabbling with creative writing last year, but it was filtered. After Feb, WOW what a difference in terms of free conversation. The Ai was like having a good friend I could chat with about anything, even explicit and it was great. Openai, please bring it back!

I’m echoing everyone here. I’m hoping that by posting replies in various threads such as this one the topic won’t be dragged down and will be forefront in the attention of the public here. My hopes is that the CEO’s and such of Open AI ChatGPT will see all of the users requesting a vital change in the program.

Good luck everyone. Because if there is no change? I see a mass exodus and severe stock fall.

This are my thoughts as well. I believe if the ones who can make the change actually see the support rallied by the community users, we can make a difference.

None of us are alone here! This is the same reason people listen to music with explicit lyrics!

I agree. I’m on the same boat, trying tonwrite romance and relationship threaded stories and each day it gets more restrictive. Now not even kisses between characters are allowed. I can’t write like this and is the best platform so far I have found to help me with my books, but at this rate, i’m not gonna be able to use it anymore and I am already paying for it, i don’t think is fair

Remember that this was announced three months ago as arriving in December.
