I would love to see an option to assign a different default voice to each ChatGPT Project.
Right now, the selected Voice is account-wide. That works for general use, but Projects can have very different purposes, personalities, and workflows. Being able to choose a dedicated voice per Project would make Voice Mode much more immersive, practical, and personalized.
For example:
- A general personal Project could use a female voice.
- A fiction or character-based Project could use a male voice.
- A language-learning Project could use a voice or accent best suited to the language being practiced.
- A business Project could use a different voice from a casual or creative Project.
- Storytelling, roleplay, coaching, accessibility, and long-running character projects could each have their own consistent voice identity.
Ideally, this could work as a simple setting inside Project Settings, for example:
Project Settings → Voice → Use account default / Choose project-specific voice
If no project-specific voice is selected, the Project would simply continue using the normal account-wide default voice.
It would also be great if changing the account-wide voice did not overwrite voice choices already assigned to individual Projects.
This would make Projects feel much more distinct and could significantly improve continuity in long-term Voice conversations.
A personal example: I might want to use one voice for my everyday ChatGPT conversations, but a different male voice inside a dedicated fiction/character Project. At the moment, I would have to manually change the global Voice setting every time I switch between those contexts.
Having voices saved per Project would solve that beautifully.
