Add “Save as PDF” to Each Conversation Menu Problem

Feature Request: Add “Save as PDF” to Each Conversation Menu

Problem

ChatGPT conversations are often used for learning, research, technical discussions, tutorials, and long-term reference.

Currently, there is no convenient built-in way to export an individual ChatGPT conversation directly as a well-formatted PDF.

Proposed Feature

Add a “Save as PDF” or “Export to PDF” option to the ⋯ menu of every ChatGPT conversation.

For example:

Conversation → ⋯ → Export to PDF

Selecting this option would generate a PDF containing the complete conversation.

PDF Content

The exported PDF should preserve:

  • Conversation title

  • User messages

  • ChatGPT responses

  • Markdown formatting

  • Headings

  • Code blocks

  • Tables

  • Mathematical formulas

  • Images and diagrams

  • Citations and source links

  • Conversation date

Optional Export Settings

The export dialog could also allow users to choose:

  • Entire conversation

  • Selected messages

  • Messages from a specific point onward

  • Include/exclude images

  • Include/exclude citations

  • Include timestamps

  • Page size (Letter / A4)

Why This Is Useful

Many ChatGPT conversations become valuable documents themselves.

For example, a student may spend several hours discussing a technical topic with ChatGPT. Instead of manually copying dozens of messages into Word or Google Docs, the entire conversation could be saved as a clean PDF with one click.

This would make ChatGPT much more useful as a learning, research, and knowledge-management tool.

Thank you!! Look forward to seeing this feature.

Thanks for the feedback! For eligible accounts, ChatGPT’s data export can provide an archive of your account history: https://help.openai.com/en/articles/7260999. One-click PDF export for a specific conversation is a separate request; we don’t have a timeline to share. We’ll pass this feedback to the relevant product team.
