Add “Read aloud” / text-to-speech support to Codex Desktop and Codex Mobile

I would like Codex to support the same “Read aloud” / text-to-speech feature that exists in ChatGPT.

Codex often gives long but useful responses: implementation plans, debugging explanations, test results, code review feedback, and next steps. Being able to listen to those responses would make Codex easier to use, especially on mobile or while multitasking.

Suggested behavior:

  • Add a “Read aloud” action to Codex messages
  • Support it in both Codex Desktop and Codex Mobile
  • Allow pause, resume, and stop
  • Ideally reuse the same voice/settings experience as ChatGPT

This would improve accessibility and make long Codex responses easier to consume.

Hey @VBA! Good callout. Bringing Read aloud into Codex would be a nice accessibility and convenience boost, especially for longer debugging or planning outputs.

I can’t share a timeline right now, but I’ll pass this feedback along internally.
