Hello OpenAI Team,
I’d like to suggest a feature that I believe could significantly improve the user experience when using ChatGPT for deep, focused conversations.
While having an in-depth dialogue with GPT, there are often moments when I just want to quickly look up the meaning of a word, check a simple definition, or do a quick calculation. However, asking these minor questions in the middle of a serious discussion can break the flow and affect the context of the conversation.
Because of this, I find myself constantly switching to other tabs or tools just to avoid disrupting the main chat.
Proposed Feature:
- Add a mini side chat window next to the main chat window.
- The side chat runs a lighter, faster model (like GPT-3.5) optimized for quick lookups.
- The main chat continues running the full, high-performance model (like GPT-4o).
- Clicking on a word or phrase in the main chat could optionally open a side lookup automatically.
Benefits:
- Maintain deep focus and immersive conversation in the main window.
- Quickly access reference information without switching tabs.
- Keeps cognitive flow intact, especially for high-context or technical discussions.
- Mimics the way our brains operate: focused thinking + fast information access.
This feature could be a game-changer for power users and creators who value flow and precision.
Thanks for considering this!
Best regards,
A ChatGPT user who wants to think faster, deeper, and smoother.
