I’d like to be able to rename chats that are created in a project so that it’s easier to keep track of.

I second this request. The names of chats within a project are hard to manage/remember what is where when I can’t organize them properly by their topic by renaming them (or naming them in the first place).

Yes plz! I have tried to find a prompt to help with properly naming chats in projects with no luck.

Please let us rename chats in folders without playing musical chairs. Right now, we have to move a chat out, rename it, then put it back — hardly the time-saving revolution AI promises

I’m confused why renaming a chat is available for non-project chats but for chats organized by projects this isn’t available. +100 to releasing this feature.

FYI – I did just find a quick workaround to use for now; click the project so you see all the chats, right-click the chat within the project, select “Remove from ”, rename the chat when it shows up with all your non-project chats, then right-click and re-add to desired project.

Update to this - It looks like you can’t do it from either the desktop app or browser; however, it CAN be done in the iPhone app by going into the chat and clicking the three dots in the top right. Just strange you can’t do it anywhere else.

Yeah, this has to happen.
On Android the option - THANKFULLY is available to rename within the project also.. and i just checked the browser and it is there now too so it looks like it’s just the desktop apps that need the update - i’m on macOS and it’s still not available there - looks like its just a matter of time and more of an oversight

Yes, please add this feature! Such a basic feature for keeping projects organized. This should be an easy feature to add. Put your AI to work on fixing this!
It’s been months since this was reported, and we’ve been suffering with the workaround of removing chats from projects in order to rename them, then adding them back.
thank you for naming this work around - although it’s playing musical chairs, the method you named seems to be the only option to rename a project chat!
