400 The requested model 'gpt-5' cannot be used with the Assistants API

When I try creating an assistant via API with gpt-5 model, I get the below error:

400 The requested model 'gpt-5' cannot be used with the Assistants API.

Even when trying to select gpt-5 from list of models in the playground, I cannot.

But the docs mention that the assistants API can use GPT-5.

This makes no sense to me, or my team. Can someone from OpenAI staff please explain or fix this issue, thank you.
