I am retired from a lifetime of wearing various hats as we entered the computer age as a “home user”. I started at 16 (1970 with IBM 360 and punch cards, in college my first language was APL (A Programming Language), made my way through COBOL, Fortran, Pascal, and various BASICs.
a few odd ones, MUMPS for one, and forgotten way more than I remember. Settled in VB for many years and VBA for even longer. Got into Metrology (measurements) and worked for NIST (NBS), DoD, NASA, Nuclear then had my own business providing IT/Systems Analyst support in a small town as a sole proprietor and worked for individuals and small companies for 15 years. Lost a bit of my programming skills during those years. Kept my hand in with VBA during that time. And now I’m interested in AI.
I’m 68 and looking to leave some kind of AI in my machine that I could feed it info and perhaps interact with my wife and ancestors after I pass. I am completely new to understanding this; but, with 40+ years computer skills I’m hoping to leave them something.
of a legacy. Surprise!
Don’t know if I have enough years to to this, so, any help will be greatly appreciated.
I am battling a number of age, and other related illnesses. the usual, BP, Diabetes, artery issues. But, prostate cancer is doing well… NED (no evidence of disease); and so, I think a “personal” AI could be a legacy… and I feel I HAVE to give it a try. I’ve been following AI for a number of years, and I think it’s really finally gotten somewhere! LETS GO! ![]()
