I fell in love with writing at age six and never looked back. I’m the author of four books of fiction, including Blueprints of the Afterlife (Grove Atlantic, 2012), a finalist for the Philip K Dick Award. I taught graduate-level creative writing for eight years, and have taught numerous workshops and classes on literature. In 1998, I got a job in customer service at an online bookstore called Amazon.com. This led to a 20+ year career in the tech industry, with editorial positions at Amazon, Microsoft, Netflix, Expedia, and a number of startups.

In 2021 I launched a founded a startup called Machines & Dreamland. We’re developing a platform called the World Integration Loop that integrates earth data with video games in the cloud to confront our growing climate emergency. Learn more here: http://machinesanddreamland.com/WIL/

I am fascinated by GPT-3 in particular and AI in general as it applies to written expression. Also incredibly interested in geospatial data, game technology, VR/AR, and cloud computing.

I live in Seattle, where I do yoga and drink coffee.
