Solo developer/engineer happily creating my own civics related system which tracks the events that uphold or threaten our Constitutional values.

I began in the 90’s as a COBOL developer and moved through many development environments as needed ever since.
I am semi-retired (which means after resigniing from my last position, I am maybe retired or maybe will find something interesting.

This is the first I’ve used AI to do any sort of code or systems development. It’s been amazing and frustrating. I would not hire chatGPT as a software developer - but it’s worth the subscription price as an assistant and often tutor for areas I’m not familiar with.
I find myself doing more documentation and flow charting than ever in my career - to help chatGPT retain context.

I started experimenting with Codex when it became available in my account. I’m using a small silly app to test with before unleashing it on anything complex.

My Constitution Watch project design is firming up, and coding pieces are coming together. It will use a local small LM for some things, and over time will curate context via RAG. It will have some constant values in an rdbms use a vector db as its main data store.

I am good working solo and having fun, however I’m trying to organize specs and tasks so that bringing in others is an option. It’s a great learning exercise in many ways!
