i got the opposite,
i sign up with google account and now i would to log in with my email and password,
And even if i created a password, open ai only allow me to connect with the 1rst method…
according to this answer it is no possible…

Hey, I had the same issue before, the thing that works for me is the next:
1.- First of all, I created my account using the Google account option
2.- Works fine but well, appears the issue that you mentioned
3.- After I tried different things, I use log with email option
4.- Used the recover password option and that works for me
Somebody help me! I can’t use ChatGPT because I’m stuck in the same loop.
Trying w/ Google only allows me to try and create a new account, but then I get this error message “This phone number is already linked to the maximum number of accounts.”
It is ridiculous.

Yeah, looks like they store and compare the authentication method used the first time you connected. Now where Google started switching to Passkey a lot of people will get this error soon.

I tried signing in my account. But everytime I sign it shows the message ‘You tried signing in with a different authentication method than the one you used during signup. Please try again using your original authentication method.’
How do I know what was my original authentication method?
faced same problem , then i tried forgot passwaord method, where i saw Verification email from open Ai then i clicked that now its working fine
If you used your GMAIL account to sign up for ChatGPT
Try to login in using your Gmail credentials (Gmail and password)
DO NOT CLICK “CONTINUE WITH GOOGLE” BUTTON
Just login with your gmail credentials
This is just a bug
