Writing Block Errors "Internal Server Error"

I am having trouble with the “Writing Block” feature.
I"m use GPT for creative story writing hobby.
Inside the Writing Block,
When I try to edit a sentence or change wording using the “bubble” it comes back “Internal Server Error”
This has been going on for 3 days now. I’m using GPT-5.5.
I’m not very literate on how this all works, so please take it easy on me as this is my last resort to save my work, before I just simply walk away and find another hobby
Tried contacting “support” and I get the runaround.
Can anyone tell me if they are experiencing the same issue?

Hey sasqwatch53, welcome to the forum!

I agree that's inconvenient.

Does the same error occur if you switch from GPT-5.5 to GPT-5.6 or another model? Also, are you using the website or the app?

It may also help to try an incognito/private window, a different browser or device, and temporarily disable any browser extensions or VPNs.

If you've already opened a support case, could you also share the case number?

Thank you for the welcome. I’m not entirely new to GPT; I’ve been using it for over a year, just doodling and messing around in my mind’s sandbox.

I’m using Google Chrome on my Mac to access the website. I don’t use the app for my creative writing because it’s quite annoying to do so on a phone.

I’ve tried versions 5.5 and 5.6, and I’ve tried using incognito mode in Chrome and switching to Safari, but I’ve gotten the same result. I’ve also tried using the “developer tools” as suggested by support, but nothing has worked.

Oddly enough, all of this started around Thursday evening, just before the release of version 5.6. The case number is 11187459.
I just can’t be the only person who is experiencing this situation or I messed something up somewhere.

I should mention that the “runaround” I received was not entirely accurate. Support did have me try the methods you suggested, but nothing seems to work.

I just want to 'edit" pieces of the writing block, because as you know sometimes the Ai gets things wrong and puts the character in situations that don’t follow continuity.

Needless to say, I have halted any work until this gets sorted out.

Appreciate you sharing the case number. I'll take a look at the case and see what can be done.

To avoid duplication, I'll be closing this topic.
