Why doesn't chatGPT recognize my canvas code?

I am on chatGPT plus, scenario:

  • Select model is GPT4o,
  • Type use canvas to code (or any variation that triggers the canvas).
  • Paste my python like code from VS Code in the empty canvas
  • Ask Questions in the chat
  • chatGPT doesn’t recognize what I pasted in the canvas, no matter what I do, i try pasting multiple times, editing, renaming, re-asking. sometimes he can see the number of lines, but not what is in the canvas.

I was just writing feedback now on a similar situation: “this doesn’t align with the reality of what is in the canvas. The canvas refers to an external category map but the chat assumes the category map is hardcoded into the script. If we can’t agree on what is in the canvas then I don’t see how we can productively continue this chat.”
