this is crazy. We’re actually reaching a point where LLM responses are almost as powerful as a well-crafted google search. I’d imagine that Stackoverflow would have something very similar to this, as well as having peer review.
It’s so ironic that these models are all benchmarked on single prompt 1 question, 1 answer that really take away from it’s power: being able to manage an iterative process through a conversation.
So now, they’re like “Wait, what if WE INTERNALIZED THE CONVERSATION!!!” Dude, genius. Yes, we’ll make this a new metric, the metric that people have been increasingly complaining about and then say “nope, look, wall isn’t hit”. “We’ll just bounce the model around in it’s own internal “thoughts” and make it seem like this concept is novel”. Oh, we’ll also black box it for a moa… I mean safety.
Can’t wait to have a conversation about bicycles and then the model decides, after bouncing around for enough time that it’s time to discuss the evolution of cavemen.
“But what about the bikes?”
“Oh, I’m sorry. I had a 2 minute conversation with myself about cavemen, can I help you?”
Can’t wait to debug that one.
100% agreed. At this time it is so stupid and dumb that i would call it a liability. A 4 yr old kid would comprehend better than ChatGPT.
Doesn’t understand the requirement, doesn’t ask questions, is lazy, and give inaccurate solutions. Waste so much time and the only thing its good at is apologizing after making infinite mistakes and giving reassurances which means nothing because next second it is making the same mistake
Funny thing is with each passing day it is getting worse and worse. Like its evolving backwards. If this was an actual guy I probably would have punched him on face.

I think the hit their limit years ago with 3.5, they had already scanned all of github and stack over flow so they had nothing to add. Except probably trained to code by really bad coders. And all its new data is probably generated by a diffrerent ai

I want a full refund… ive been a sub from start, but this is the worst garbage ive ever interacted with
same here. I use the same text instruction that used to work perfectly but after a few days, GPT got it wrong. Now i need to change change change to make simpler instructions but still sucks…
Update to my Update: This is getting unbearable.
Problem 1:
GPT can’t write code, it makes unnecessary changes (example: changing comments/moving code) and also makes very buggy code (and 99% of the time GPT doesn’t do anything!)
Problem 2:
Memory sucks, can’t even remember 2 messages ago. Getting worse and worse. It claims to be correct (we all know it’s wrong, it is making something scientifically called “A Guess”) AND it claims i’m wrong.
Problem 3:
It ALWAYS thinks it’s the master, GPT always thinks i need help and need to refine stuff. It’s more like GPT needs help, GPT is the problem here. I explained in a 5 year old manner and GPT still doesn’t understand. GPT just thinks i need help because it doesn’t understand me.
Problem 4:
It NEVER treats messages as replies. If you ask someone “Hey i want ice cream”, they’ll say something like “Sure what flavour?” and then “Vanilla please”. But with GPT, It doesn’t treat “Vanilla please” as a reply! Imagine you walk up to someone and say “Vanilla please”. It would be so awkward! And that’s how GPT interprets it! It thinks you’re walking up to it and saying “Vanilla please”.
Conclusion:
GPT sucks now
Also, Flowery language sucks, GPT uses it ALL THE TIME and there’s no way to avoid it.

I agree with everyone 100%. I remember well how the 4th version was a real breakthrough but then it turned into garbage. Now the same thing is happening with o1, it is getting dumber every day and constantly losing contact. Perhaps on the $200 tariff GPT will start working normally again, but then it looks like they will make a $2000 tariff and so on. It looks like on the wave of hype everything has moved from the plane of a good product to the plane of marketing. It’s a pity.
Just came here to confirm, since the subreddit is delusional about this being a illussion due to extended use of gpt.
I was a really happy plus subscriber a few months ago, I loved using the memory function to set up entire RPG games the thing runned for me, I could tell it what memories to edit and exactly how. I could clearly state when I was speaking in game, out of game, to the GM or to the ‘‘system’’.
I subscribed again yesterday, since now I have the money again. Sadly it is INCREDIBLY STUPID now. All those thing I used to do with it, imposible now, it won’t add stuff to it’s memory on request but it says it did, and will even argue when I tell it that there is nothing new in the memory. It can’t understand most of my instructions, even the really basic ones ‘‘write the instructions for a RPG game with this and that’’ and it will answer some generic shit about what’s good in a RPG, etc.
I requested a refund today, and decided that if they didn’t gave me my money back I’m never trying openAI again, luckly the did accepted my refund, so I’ll try again when they rollback to the first 4o or 3.5.
I have no idea what they did, because I don’t follow the updates of chatgpt, but whatever they did is horrible, I was happy to pay 4-5 months ago for 4.0, and was willing to pay for more memory if it was an option. Today I won’t even use chat gpt for free, I wen to claude, and managed to do what I wanted to do withing the frame of 200.000 tokens that AI can remember, way better than chat gpt, without paying yet.

I aggree. ive asked to write me code but it doesnt 1: Know the valid methoods 2: fix stuff when i directly tell it whats wrong 3: always says “ah yes im sorry for the confusion” when infact it didnt change anything. and boom! youre gpt 4 uses are full 
give us the smart gpt back. its (varying from time to time) just really stupid
yes i am a student in class 11th i ask chat gpt question of physics and maths and it was 51st time when chat gpt tell me wrong answer it was very usefull at starting but now it is dumbest ai in its purest form

Here we go again. I cant say whether it has to do with moving things into a project, or an update. It seems that, the day after Chat GPT suggested that a project might be a good place to organize chats, I saw a message that read that I was working with an updated version of CHatGPT?
Whatever the case was, the moment I started working on something overwhich ChatGPT and I were working through smoothly for a full week of long days, ChatGPT got completely stupid, as though its memory had been wiped clean of everything it learned. Immediately, its suggestions were completely off. I felt as though I were working with a kid and his ABC blocks. 4 out of 5 suggestions that it made were completely wrong. Now I am back to wondering if it will be easier to do this project off line, as ChatGPT is wasting my time.

Just chiming in to say Chatgpt 4 has gotten painfully stupid in the past month. It is like trying to give instructions to a stubborn child. Not fun or cool, and makes me sick.

Canceled my subscription… wont pay for something that wastes my time instead of saving it. I hope OpenAI realize their mistake after so many people canceled their subscribtion.

literally, up until a few months ago I was fine with ChatGPT now if I ask it something about JavaScript it writes some response for unity, apologises then comes up with an even more vague response on a topic I didn’t even enquire on
