several weeks ago, I see model "gpt-5-nano-20250807“ with other openai models together on openai platform, but now I cant find it on the openai platform even though i still can call it by api.
I just want to know what happened and whether there is some change on it?
gpt-5-nano is a pointer to that full model name, an alias. Just in case they were to make a new versioned dated model of the same family that could be pointed at (instead of stealthfully changing existing models.) Less to remember, like mis-remembering the version format.
One way to get the correct name of the model you need is going to the corresponding model page and then looking up the name(s) in the snapshot section.
