# When I Open Codex App on Desktop It opens for a split second then shuts down immediately

so i downloaded the chagpt app to my desktop and i’ve been using Codex app. It has been working perfectly fine, until i gave it a prompt that i do understand now may have been a bit too much and it overloaded Codex. anyways, now it just shuts down when i open Codex, it’ll open for a split second then just shut down. i have tried terminating, repairing and resetting it, still nothing. I am now in contact with support, but i’m guessing they wont reply to me for a while so i am now here!

I have the same issue. Tried updating, uninstalling, reinstalling. It opens for about a second. I see my projects, chats, etc then it just closes.

Currently there are several Discourse topics and many more Codex Issues tracking such issues.

Try searching the existing GitHub issues for a match. If you cannot find one, then open a new issue with as much detail as possible.

If you find an issue that matches your problem, consider adding a 👍 reaction on the GitHub issue page as reactions on GitHub help the developers gauge impact and prioritize work.

A newer update may have resolved this, so give it another try on the latest version. If it’s still happening, share a few details about what you’re seeing and error message if any so we can take a closer look.
