I had to disable “Block all cookies” in the Safari app settings under Advanced > Privacy. After that the error went away and I could log in.

I can’t find the sign in button anywhere on the page
Clown developers. Must be so embarrassing to work for one of the biggest companies now and be so inept every single day of your life.
This is exactly my problem too
holly s…. ! this works, i guess the community login asks core to authenticate user, which it does, and changes a flag somewhere…
for those who still cant, the button is on THIS page, and once you connect to openai community, you try again for chatgpt login that works this time.

Hi, I am on my iPhone 16pro, I am unable to log into either the app or online without receiving the same 409 error message, I’ve tried all of the above remedies and also chat GPT’s suggestion. it all happened when I upgraded to plus yesterday any thoughts for me???
Okay, I have no idea how this was fixed, not even going to try. I just tried the app and it worked flawlessly……..
this fixed it for me. funny story, i ran through all of the same fixes, connected to phone hotspot to test internet, cleared cache and cookies, restarted computer, signed out of browser, incognito, no vpn, and everything chat gpt and the ai support agent suggested. only your fix worked. i then promptly told chat gpt that a human beat it at troubleshooting it and had a huge laugh at the absurdity of life

I have the same problem on my iOS device(iOS 18.6), which has been bothering me for a long time, and then tried to delete the Safari cache and cookies, restart the app, and then it worked.
The lovely thing about this is that
the “Log in” button is exactly on top of this convo.
It directly logs you in. Smooth af.
Then it returns you back to this convo.
Now can you really leave without saying Hi?

Same issue … same solution worked. They probably used ChatGPT to code this thing. *BRILLIANT!!

Hi, I have exactly the same problem, except that mine is with the app. You say you use Safari, so you don’t use the ChatGPT app?
Because when I try to log in to the ChatGPT app, I get the error shown above on this forum and I can’t log in at all.
Following the advice on this forum, I was able to log in on Safari or Google Chrome, but only on browsers, never on the app.
Am I crazy, or is this happening to you too?
Same here, laptop works, but app doesn’t work. Keep on getting the 409. Accepted cookies, tried different browsers through which login needs to be done. Anyone please?

Thank you for the link; I was able to log in again. I still do not fully understand what happened with that login, as it behaved oddly. I attempted to clear the data using EditThisCookie and also CCleaner, but without success. I believe the ChatGPT website may be experiencing a script-related issue and requires improvement.
Nothing works for me, it’s so frustrating. I get the ‘preauth_cookie_failed’ error on their MacOS app.
