What does the Save & Submit button do?

On a question I can click [Save & Submit] - what does that button do?

And a post must be at least 100 characters so here’s a note saying that ChatGPT is one of the best pair programmers I have ever worked with.

I would like to know the answer to this, too.

It probably seems like a basic question, but it doesn’t seem at all obvious, since you can happily do everything you need without using this button.
