Does anyone know where **archived local Codex tasks** can be found in VS Code? When a locally ran Codex task is done, and I click the archive button, the task disappears.

~/.codex/archived\_sessions

if you want to restore, move them into
~/.codex/sessions/YEAR/MONTH/DAY
e.g. ~/.codex/sessions/2025/10/11

I’m on Windows 11, and my archived chats are in my `~/.codex/archived_sessions` folder.

Thanks for this, this was super useful knowing this!

Does anyone know if I can access and view (like you can before you archive a chat) archived chats, I am using Visual Studio Codex extension;

When I archive a chat it says:

”You can view archived chats in Data Controls in settings” - with data controls as a link to Data Controls.

However, I cannot find a Data Controls option in settings via navigating (after the toast message disappears), and if I click the link ‘data controls’ in the toast message, it take me to a screen called Data Controls but the ‘Open’ button is greyed out for me and I cannot click on the open button. Side note, I also get stuck on the Data Controls page, I cannot navigate out of the screen, I have to close VSCode and start again.

Ultimately am I doing something wrong, or is the option broken in some way?

Thanks!
