Urgent: Ongoing Project Folder File Upload Bugs and Reduced File Limit

Dear OpenAI Support Team,

I am writing to report a serio

us and ongoing issue affecting multiple ChatGPT Project folders.

There are many Project folders where file uploads are failing with different bugs and errors. This issue has become extremely frustrating, especially because it has been continuing for a long time without a proper fix.

I would also like to point out an important change that may be related to this problem.

Previously, when I shared one of my Project folders with a friend who has a ChatGPT Plus account, he was able to upload up to 20 files to the Project’s sources. However, after a recent change, he can now upload only around 5 files.

Interestingly, these Project folder upload errors started appearing not long after that change was introduced.

This is not an issue affecting only my account. I have checked with several friends, and many of them are experiencing similar problems. In some Project folders, they are also unable to upload files because of various errors.

I have been contacting your support team about this issue for approximately two months, but unfortunately, this important bug still does not appear to have been properly addressed.

This problem is causing significant inconvenience and is seriously affecting the usability of Projects. I kindly ask your technical team to investigate whether the recent changes to Project file upload limits or shared Project permissions are related to these errors.

Please treat this as a priority and fix the issue as soon as possible.

I would also appreciate it if you could provide a clear update regarding:

  1. Why the file upload limit for shared Project folders appears to have changed from around 20 files to around 5 files.
  2. Whether this change is intentional or a bug.
  3. Why certain Project folders are now showing errors while uploading files.
  4. Whether your engineering team is already aware of this issue.
  5. When users can expect a permanent fix.

I have already waited for around two months, so I sincerely hope this issue will now receive proper attention.

Hey @705ashik,

That's weird, the project file limit for Plus users is up to 25 files per project.

This error may have been related to an outage we were having that day, if your encountering an unknown error check the status page for incidents that may affect uploads.

If you're still experiencing this issue, please reach out to support@openai.com to open a new case and provide a HAR file, the exact timestamp (including the time zone) of the most recent reproduction, and the affected project URL.

Please don't share the HAR file, project URL, or any other account-specific details on the forum.
