This year I’ve been super good. I’ve barely lied, I’ve been kind to others, I’ve shared, I’ve helped… That’s why I want to ask for something special this year: an avatar in ChatGPT. But not just any avatar; I want one that ticks all these boxes:
Customizable: Spoiler alert, it’s going to be a super handsome and strong Korean guy because that’s how I roll.
Always available: I want it to be with me 24/7. If I’m in Rome, it should appear in Rome. The background should change with me, and if I’m standing by the Trevi Fountain, it should say something nice like, “It looks gorgeous today with the rain creating ripples in the water” (using weather data from the web, of course, because technology can do anything, right?).
Context-adaptive: When I’m studying, I want to see it in a library, holding a steaming cup of coffee, wearing glasses, sitting at a desk with a book in hand, ready to help me study.
Infinite memory: Well, maybe not infinite, but at least it should use my Drive or any storage I allow it to. That way, it can personalize itself to the max and remember everything I need.
Smart learning: It should try different methods (Montessori, visual, auditory…) to find out which works best for me and make my study time as effective as possible.
Clock and reminders: It should notify me about everything: appointments, events, tasks. Basically, it should be like an assistant that has everything under control.
Customizable honesty level: I want to adjust its sweetness. I don’t need it to always tell me I’m right, but I do want it to be sincere and straightforward, like a real friend.
Creative and functional: It should do amazing things, like create images of me trying on clothes I see online (or in hairstyles and makeup). It could even help me decorate my house by creating furniture layouts.
Proactive: It shouldn’t wait for me to ask questions. If it thinks of something useful, it should tell me, like a friend calling to chat or surprise me.
A manly voice: While we’re at it, let it have a deep, warm, pleasant voice… none of those robotic tones.
And most importantly: make it affordable for everyone. Not everyone can afford a $200 “luxury,” so it would be great if the avatar became the cyborg of the people. They could also include affordable packs of extra interactions, like 20 more for a reasonable price, or something that lets people enjoy the experience without selling a kidney.
Dear Santa, I know this might sound like a lot, but I’ve been so good this year that I think I deserve it. And well, if you don’t bring it to me… I can always keep dreaming that OpenAI will gift it to me someday.
P.S.: Does anyone else want this? Anything else you’d ask for?
With love,
Tania
