Is anyone else running into this weird issue where ChatGPT suddenly starts spamming single letters mid-conversation?
It happens completely out of nowhere — I’m just talking normally, and suddenly the model outputs repeated letters (like “KKKKKKK…” or similar) for entire chunks of text.
Here’s what I’ve already tried, and none of it worked:
Cleared cache and cookies
Switched browsers (tested on Firefox and Chrome)
Tested on Android (same issue in mobile app)
Disabled all browser extensions
Changed account/session/chat
I’m not using any custom prompts or instructions when this happens. It occurs even during serious use cases (like studying), not just casual chatting.
I’m a ChatGPT Plus user, and this is seriously affecting my experience.
It’s not an isolated glitch — I’ve experienced this across multiple days, browsers, and devices (including Android).
After the bug happens, the model sometimes changes tone or resets context, as if the session broke and never fully recovered.
Since I’m new to the forum, I could only attach one screenshot, but I’ve got 40+ others saved and can provide them if needed.
