Unable to receive phone verification code in Ecuador

Hi everyone,

I have been trying to verify my phone number for more than a week, but I always get this message:

“Unable to send a verification code to this phone number. Please try again later or use a different number.”

I am using a valid Ecuadorian mobile number with the +593 country code. I have already tried different browsers, incognito mode, Wi-Fi, mobile data, and waiting before trying again, but nothing has worked.

OpenAI Support only told me to keep trying.

Is anyone else facing the same issue, especially with an Ecuadorian phone number? Did you find a solution?

That's indeed frustrating. The engineering team is aware of the issue and is working on a fix.

In the meantime, could you share your support case number so I can take a look?

Hi OpenAI Support,

I tried using an old phone number with a physical SIM card, and it worked. My account is now verified.

It seems that in my case, verification works with physical SIM cards but not with virtual SIM. In any case, the issue has been resolved.
