Two ChatGPT Improvements: Command References and Private Chat Lock

I would like to suggest two features that could improve ChatGPT usability and privacy.

1. Command/Prompt Reference Tags for Long Conversations

In long conversations, there can be many different requests and revisions. Sometimes when I refer to an earlier request, ChatGPT may interpret my instruction as referring to the most recent request instead.

It would be useful if ChatGPT automatically assigned reference tags to meaningful user requests, for example:

Cmd-1 – Leave Email
Cmd-2 – Sick Leave Modification
Cmd-3 – Payslip Email

Then I could say, “Modify Cmd-2 and make it less formal,” and ChatGPT would know exactly which earlier request I am referring to.

It would also be helpful to have these command references in a side panel. Hovering over or clicking a command could show the original request and take the user to that part of the conversation.

2. Password/PIN Lock for Individual Conversations

I would also like the ability to lock individual ChatGPT conversations without locking the entire account.

For example, a user may leave ChatGPT signed in on a shared computer but have certain personal or confidential conversations they do not want another person to open.

A “Lock conversation” option could require a PIN, password, fingerprint, Face ID, or other device authentication before that particular conversation can be opened.

Ideally, locked conversations could also hide their title and message preview until they are unlocked.

These two features would improve long-conversation navigation and privacy respectively.

Thank you for considering these suggestions.

Thanks for both suggestions! We’ll pass along the requests for command reference tags and locks for individual chats, including hidden titles and previews. We don’t have a timeline to share, but appreciate the details.
