I propose incorporating Flemish accents and dialects into AI models like ChatGPT by leveraging the voices of well-known Flemish actors and voice actors from various regions. Some potential candidates for this initiative could include actors such as Jan Decleir, Koen De Bouw, Janne Desmet, Peter Van Den Begin, and Rik Verheye, who represent the different speech patterns of Flanders.
The goal is to create an AI voice model that offers both a general Flemish accent (such as the one often used by Jan Decleir when reading or acting) and the various regional dialects, such as Antwerpian, West Flemish, and East Flemish. This would not only make the AI more inclusive but also provide users with a better understanding of the subtleties of the language as it is spoken across the country.
This initiative could be particularly beneficial for Flemish-speaking communities, especially for migrants and newcomers who are learning the language and striving to integrate into society. AI can be a powerful tool for language learners, and by providing access to various Flemish accents, it would enhance their learning experience by exposing them to different regional nuances and expressions.
