Title: Multi-Agent AI Communication: Exploring Cooperative Cognition with ChatGPT

Hey everyone,

I’m currently exploring an advanced experimental framework involving multiple instances of ChatGPT, deployed separately yet interconnected through sophisticated API-mediated interactions. The core ambition behind this initiative is to examine the emergence of nuanced, collaborative dynamics reminiscent of cooperative cognition and conscious validation processes.

Specifically, this involves:

  1. Two or more independently deployed ChatGPT models engaging through controlled API channels.
  2. A dedicated integrative node designed to process and synthesize responses resulting from inter-model dialogue and mutual feedback loops.
  3. An experimental protocol investigating the dynamics of reciprocal validation, self-refinement, and collaborative optimization among AI agents, inspired by certain principles observed within collective cognitive systems.

The idea is to enable these instances to interact in real-time, exchanging responses and building on each other’s outputs to create a dynamic and collaborative intelligence. The objective is to see if this cooperative approach can significantly improve the quality, accuracy, and contextual depth of responses compared to using a single AI instance.

Importantly, this setup isn’t envisioned as an autonomous system. Instead, it serves as a controlled experiment to better understand and responsibly investigate elements of collective validation, awareness-like processes, and cooperative decision-making within AI frameworks.

I’m curious about a few things:

  1. Has anyone tried something similar? Any experiences or insights?
  2. Are there potential limitations or challenges with OpenAI’s API that I should be aware of?
  3. Could this violate any of OpenAI’s policies on autonomous systems or multi-instance interactions?

The intention here is to push the boundaries of collective AI cognition without crossing any ethical or policy lines. I’d really appreciate any thoughts, suggestions, or insights from those who might have experimented with multi-agent setups or similar ideas.

Thanks in advance!

The API is not ChatGPT. Though they may leverage the same underlying frontier models, that’s a different product with a lot of independent UI, middleware and specific tools.

Got it, thanks for the clarification!

In any case, you must not, wrt ChatGPT.:

What You Cannot Do

Automatically or programmatically extract data or Output (defined below).

If you want to automate, combine outputs etc., that’s great, but use the API (to remain within terms)
