Hi OpenAI team,
First off — the new image generation capabilities in ChatGPT are incredible. The quality and flexibility are next-level, and it’s a game-changer for creative workflows. That said, I’ve noticed a couple of areas where the user experience could be improved, particularly when it comes to performance and organization.
The issue:
Currently, it seems that whenever the page is refreshed or revisited, previously generated images are reprocessed. This slows down the user experience and puts unnecessary load on the system — especially when the image hasn’t changed. It also creates friction for users trying to maintain a creative flow or reference previous visuals.
Suggestion:
Introduce image caching and a persistent sidebar gallery, similar to how Midjourney handles image management. Here’s what could really improve the UX:
• Auto-save generated images per session (or even account-wide), so there’s no need to regenerate them unless explicitly requested.
• Sidebar or gallery view to display all generated images during a session, with thumbnails for quick reference.
• Ability to pin, rename, favorite, or organize images for projects or reuse.
• Option to download all session images as a bundle or revisit them without delay.
• A simple “regenerate” button for when users actually want a new version — not by default on refresh.
This would not only speed up performance but also enhance usability for creatives, educators, marketers, and anyone using visual workflows.
Looking forward to seeing how this tool evolves — thank you for all the amazing work you’re doing!
