Title: Feature Suggestion: Notifications & Scheduled Tasks in ChatGPT

Hello OpenAI Team and Community,

I would like to propose a new feature that could make ChatGPT more efficient and interactive: notifications and scheduled tasks.

The Core Idea:

Adding the ability to schedule tasks and reminders within ChatGPT, allowing users to set specific times to receive notifications or reminders for various purposes, such as:
:heavy_check_mark: Daily and healthy meal plans.
:heavy_check_mark: Personalized workout routines based on user preferences.
:heavy_check_mark: Reminders for important appointments, like meetings or medication schedules.
:heavy_check_mark: Daily or weekly to-do lists based on user interests.
:heavy_check_mark: Alerts for updates or specific actions based on past conversations.

How Could This Feature Work?

A scheduling option that lets users set a reminder at a specific time.

The ability to configure recurring notifications (daily, weekly, monthly).

Possible integration with external apps like smart calendars or health apps.

Why Is This Feature Useful?

Currently, users rely on ChatGPT for instant responses, but adding scheduled reminders would make the experience more productive and organized. Instead of manually requesting the same information daily, the system could send it automatically based on a preset schedule.

I hope this suggestion is helpful, and I’d love to hear feedback from the community and developers regarding its feasibility for future updates!

Thank you, and I look forward to your thoughts!

Hi, I very much like this idea. When task became available in Belgium (only recently) I thought that is what they meant with ‘with scheduled tasks’ , ‘able to send you reminders’ but unfortunately not. But it can not accurately tell time so how would it work?

Dear OpenAI Team,

Thank you for your response and for considering my suggestion! I understand the challenge regarding ChatGPT’s ability to tell time accurately. However, I believe there are several ways to work around this limitation and still implement scheduled tasks effectively.

Possible Solutions:

:one: Integration with Time APIs:

ChatGPT could pull real-time data from external time services (e.g., World Time API) to track the current time and manage scheduled tasks accordingly.

:two: Syncing with Device Time:

If ChatGPT has access to the system clock (with user permission), it could reference the local device time to provide accurate reminders.

:three: User-Provided Time Input:

Instead of relying on built-in time tracking, users could manually set a reference time (e.g., “Assume the current time is 3:00 PM”) to help schedule reminders within the session.

:four: Integration with Smart Calendars (Google/Apple Calendar):

Allowing ChatGPT to sync with external calendars would enable users to set and receive reminders based on pre-existing schedules.

:five: Session-Based Time Tracking:

Even without knowing the exact time, ChatGPT could track elapsed time within a conversation (e.g., “30 minutes have passed since you started your workout”) to assist with task management.

By implementing one or more of these solutions, ChatGPT could provide users with a more interactive and structured experience, helping them stay organized with minimal manual effort.

I would love to hear your thoughts on these suggestions and whether they could be feasible for future updates!

Best regards,
