I am sure that even with interaction we are still far short of understanding. Interaction and information exchange don’t account for the huge number of perspectives that make up understanding.
We can only hope to write stories expressing our perspectives and with that sum of stories use AI to build up a bigger picture.
I have saved my children’s old exercise books from their classes knowing that when AI can help with their education in a few years it will be able to reignite their perspectives by reinforcing their memories…
A good test of this is whether you can define simply what fundamentally drives someone. In fact this turns out to be very layered and often firewalled. This is simply ONE perspective.
Communication is just the final immediate layer. Without understanding the underlying manifold it is very localised.
Understanding grows with the number of perspectives available, but authentic perspectives emerge when people are not fully observed.
