I am a windows and android using plus customer in New Zealand, and if you’re like me in any of the countries/platforms outside of OpenAI’s favourites even if you’re a paying customer it feels like you’ve been forgotten. I’ve been waiting for access to Sora 2 and Atlas since they were first released. Even with an invite code to Sora 2 I was denied because I’m in New Zealand. And before you tell me to use a VPN, that isn’t the point, I shouldn’t need to. Open AI has made customers like me wait in the dark for quite a lot of time now.
What makes it worse is that Google has released Gemini 3 and now they’ve tied that into Chrome and that’s even for free users from my knowledge (correct me if I’m wrong). I’ve been a paying customer for over a year now with OpenAI, but for the first time I’m tempted to head over to Gemini, I like to consider myself a pretty loyal customer, so if I’m tempted I can only imagine how many others are that are in my situation. And yes you can argue that people in my situation might not be OpenAI’s biggest market, but if you start ignoring groups that pay you, that mentality can become a slippery slope. It seems Google has no trouble releasing to the masses, and even tho when I ask it says Gemini 3 hasn’t rolled out in my country yet for Chrome, when I go to the AI mode of chrome it tells me it is using Gemini 3. So who knows? Would love OpenAI to at least give a timeframe as to when paying customers on other platforms/countries can expect access to Sora 2 and Atlas?
