The email you provided is not supported

From Germany here.

Have the same problem. Tried three different emails from different providers and different browsers.

Nothing works. It always says, “The email you provided is not supported,” even AFTER I confirmed and verified the email.

Does OpenAI read this forum? This is bullshit. Fix this ASAP.

Did you manage to fix your ‘not supported email’ issue?

No, still having that issue and tried to create different E-Mails, incognito, vpn, I’m in Germany, once got to the point where I did could log in but then had to wait, logged in again and again email not supported. I think its a very bad SUPPORT though its such a “smart” system, where dozens are facing same issue and there is no real respond to that from OAI… didn’t work

Same here. Indeed the worst sign-up process of all tech applications I have seen yet.

And this is from a company that creates artificial intelligence.

And no word from them as to why this is happening and if they are working on mitigating it.

THIS IS THE SOLUTION. Thank you jbulm

My Yahoo email refused to work. As soon as I went into my Yahoo account and added a phone number, ChatGPT sent me an email asking to verify my Yahoo account. You must have a valid cell phone number attached to whatever email address you are using.

Worked for me too, I had a Phone Number, but I changed it and then it worked but in Incognito Mode

Same issue, the sign up system is useless, tried literally everything, nowhere else has this problem with sign ups. They literally have a ‘sign up with a Microsoft account’ but then say the Hotmail account is not supported’. What a joke. Also why do they blatantly lie to their users? You try to sign up and it says ‘the sign up is unavailable right now’ when in reality it’s ‘we don’t want people from your country/on your connection using our system’ despite being on the approved countries list (which you need an account to even see which is hilarious).

Of course making an account on here is completely stress free but apparently there’s widespread geoblocking on the actual accounts for ChatGPT.

Best solution is to get someone to make an account for you, someone mentioned in this thread someone on Youtube will do it.

I also have the same problem and to reply this I had to create an account with my saved and verified email that this page have, wich is the same that is not allowing me to log in (ironicaly); but I tried the updating data solution, adding a phone number to this e-mail and now I got the next message:

Oops!

Our systems are a bit busy at the moment,
please take a break and try again soon.

(LOL)

Same problem here, I live in Germany and it neither works from my phone with mobile data nor at my pc with wifi, doesn’t work for google nor microsoft account and I cannot create an account either.

Same issue here. US. Tried using email. Also tried using Google and MS accounts.
I did receive an email on my MS account, stating that it had permissions to my profile.
Tried both Chrome and Edge.
Same error regardless.

Same here. Why have so many user difficutlies?

Same. I cannot login. Ive tried incognito, gmail, hotmail. Forgot password doesnt send me anything. Whole lot of wasted time that I dont have.

I had the same problem. In the end, I tried to sign up in Firefox (incognito). And it works.

What worked for me:

  1. Looked up my Hotmail account that wasn’t ‘supported’ on https://haveibeenpwned.com/ and sure enough one data breach from 2019! Great! Here is the quote about the breach:

"Verifications.io: In February 2019, the email address validation service verifications-io suffered a data breach. Discovered by Bob Diachenko and Vinny Troia, the breach was due to the data being stored in a MongoDB instance left publicly facing without a password and resulted in 763 million unique email addresses being exposed. Many records within the data also included additional personal attributes such as names, phone numbers, IP addresses, dates of birth and genders. No passwords were included in the data. The Verifications-io website went offline during the disclosure process, although an archived copy remains viewable.

Compromised data: Dates of birth, Email addresses, Employers, Genders, Geographic locations, IP addresses, Job titles, Names, Phone numbers, Physical addresses"

No wonder my Hotmail account gets so much spam. Almost nothing in gmail.

  1. Put in my gmail account into haveibeenpwned. and no problems listed.

  2. Used a ‘Private Window’ in my Firefox browser and changed from my sign-in with the Hotmail account for Openai to my Gmail account and voila, it worked. Asked for my phone number to verify, and some other stuff. Don’t know whether or not the "Private Window’ is necessary but I did it anyway.

4)Put me right into Chat GPT and I already asked my first question.

Whoever listed the haveibeenpwned website, a big thanks. I never would have figured that out by myself. (I wasn’t allowed to list more than 2 website addresses as a new user so, I used the hyphen in place of a period for any of the other repeating of the same address.)

Now, I am wondering if I should just ‘brick’ the Hotmail account but what a hassle.

I feel like I have tried everything here. I have created two brand new clean email addresses, they have cell phone numbers associated, that number is not associated with a breach, I have tried multiple devices and browsers and always in incognito mode and still I get the amazingly frustrating “oops, your email is not supported error message.”

And that support chat it is laughable…

I had the same problem and found this response very helpful.
I first tried with different hotmail.com and other adresses, tried deleting the cookies and tried from different devices (mobile and laptop), with or without VPN.
Finally I created a new gmail adress and tried to sign up in an incognito tab. Worked perfectly - I received a verification mail and code via phone.

The common denominator here seems to be hotmail accounts. Possibly old Hotmail accounts.

I implore anyone who is having difficulties to check again to see if their account has ever been compromised.

A new account (Gmail is great and uses wonderful security) along with either an incognito browser, or a new computer entirely seems to be the solution. Make sure you are not using any sort of VPN, and of course that you’re using an actual phone number, not a VOIP service.

I know it can be very frustrating but please do not click any links that offer solutions.
