Context:
I set up a recurring task reminder using ChatGPT-Tasks in an existing conversation.
After setting the task, I switched back to GPT-4o and continued using the thread as normal.
At some point, the thread reached its memory limit, but I didn’t think anything of it.
What happened next:
The following morning, I noticed what appeared to be a new conversation thread in my chat history. The thread contained only the scheduled task reminder I had set up and nothing else.
At the time, I assumed it was just a randomly spawned duplicate of my task and deleted it.
Later, when I went to find my original conversation (the one where I had set the task), I realized it was completely gone.
I’m 99% sure I hadn’t deleted it myself - the only conversation I’vedeleted recently is the single-task thread I mentioned above.
My concern:
Is it possible that because the thread had hit its memory limit, the GPT was unable to store the task reminder in that thread and instead overwrote the entire conversation with the scheduled task? If so, that seems like a significant issue, as it resulted in the total loss of an important thread. (I know, I know, I should have backed it up. Lesson learned the hard way.)
Has anyone experienced anything similar? Thanks in advance!
