Fam. Here’s a rundown of feature requests and issues that people keep mentioning. Some of these date back to 2022, while other feedback is more recent, though I haven’t sorted it by age.
1. Ability to Change Your Account’s Email Address
You still can’t change the email associated with your OAuth account. This comes up frequently on social media, Reddit, and here on the forums. The option to change it is visible at OpenAI’s profile settings page, but the email field remains greyed out.
Current Official Info:
“We do not support updating the email address associated with your ChatGPT/OpenAI account.”

2. Ability to Change Your Account’s Phone Number
Same issue as above. You can view the number in the settings, but the field is greyed out.
Current Official Stance:
“OpenAI does not offer the option to change or update the phone number associated with your account. This applies to both ChatGPT and the OpenAI API.”

3. ChatGPT Export Function Appears Unreliable
The export function at ChatGPT Settings > Data Control seems to break intermittently for many users and recovers on its own. Several threads discuss attempts to troubleshoot it, but there’s no reliable way to reproduce the issue.
This should be addressed, as users have raised concerns that alternative export solutions might pose security or privacy risks.
4. GPTs Getting Unlisted from the GPT Store for Unknown Reasons
An increasing number of GPT creators report that their GPTs were unlisted without explanation. Some creators suggested relisting to gain error messages or notifications that might clarify the issue.
There are also reports of cloned GPTs replacing originals, leading to dissatisfaction and rumours that company-owned GPTs are prioritised. Addressing this could help curb these conspiracy theories. Perhaps OpenAI could create a help page that explains what being unlisted entails and lists potential reasons.
5. Organisation Tools for ChatGPT Conversations
Many users request folders and other organisational features. The UI is still very basic and would benefit from more tools to keep things tidy.
I suggested creating an open-source, cross-platform ChatGPT client, but the idea hasn’t gained traction. OpenAI might want to invest resources in improving their proprietary client or consider supporting the development of a community-driven client.
I’d volunteer as a maintainer for such a project if I could get some funding for snacks and coffee. That’s right, I can be entirely motivated by snacks - just don’t feed me after midnight.
6. ChatGPT Settings Sometimes Get Lost for Unknown Reasons
This affects the memories and custom instructions users set to personalise ChatGPT. Sometimes, after saving changes, they disappear by the next day. This issue is relatively new but appears to be happening more often.
7. Lack of Transparency in Feature Rollouts Fuels Political Agitation
I’ve seen anti-EU rhetoric in some discussions here and on social media, especially around feature rollouts. For instance, the delayed launch of Advanced Voice in the EU led to frustration, which has unfortunately fed into political debates. The EU has stringent privacy rules, which shouldn’t be controversial, but social media discussions are hijacked by agitators.
This could push users away, and the issue might be solved by simply stating that certain features will arrive in the EU/EEA region at a later time rather than leaving users guessing. This guessing creates an opening for people who want to create division and stir drama. Add politics - thing goes boom.
There’s probably more to add, so please share your feedback and concerns below. I hope this post is helpful, and by raising these issues monthly, we might get some clarity and long-requested features implemented.
