Suggestions to Improve the ChatGPT App Directory Experience

Here are a few suggestions regarding the current ChatGPT App directory:

At the moment, the directory only has three categories—Featured, Lifestyle, and Productivity—and all apps are listed alphabetically. Users need to scroll multiple times to view the full list, which isn’t very efficient.

  1. Expand Categories
    Similar to the GPT Store, introducing more categories would make it easier for users to browse and discover apps based on their interests.

  2. AI-Powered Search
    Currently, app search relies on alphabetical matching. Given the strength of AI, it would be great if users could input natural language queries (e.g., a sentence describing their needs), and the system could intelligently match them with relevant apps based on app descriptions.

  3. Display Usage Metrics
    Showing metrics like conversation volume (as in the GPT Store) would help users quickly identify popular and widely used apps.

  4. Contextual App Recommendations in Chat
    When users show intent to search for apps during a conversation, the system could suggest relevant apps directly. This would help users access more accurate and up-to-date information through specialized apps, improving overall experience and supporting the app ecosystem.
