"Suggestion to improve AI with expert-level depth, domain-specific streams, and subscription models for tailored learning

Subject: Feedback on Improving AI Responses with Expert-Level Depth and Domain-Specific Specializations

Dear OpenAI Team,

I hope this message finds you well. I’m writing as a user with experience in medical knowledge and a growing understanding of AI’s capabilities. I greatly appreciate the power and accessibility of your models, but I’ve noticed an important area where AI responses could improve significantly.

Despite providing well-structured, detailed prompts, AI often delivers answers that remain too shallow, overly cautious, or generalized, even when expert-level insight is clearly requested. For example, in medical queries involving rare but clinically significant findings (such as “fork deformity” in osteoporosis), the AI sometimes fails to acknowledge or explain these concepts, which can be critical for learners and professionals seeking detailed understanding.

This limitation is not unique to medical topics—similar gaps appear in finance, engineering, and other domains requiring layered expertise. I believe this is a systemic challenge rooted in the AI’s default risk-averse and broad-audience design.

To address this, I suggest four key enhancements:

  1. Implement a layered response system or user expertise modes that dynamically adapt the depth of AI explanations based on the user’s experience level or explicit request. This would empower users to get tailored, in-depth insights when needed, while still providing simplified responses for beginners.
  2. Develop domain-specific AI streams within OpenAI—for example, OpenAI for Medicine, OpenAI for Finance, OpenAI for Engineering—each equipped with comprehensive, A-to-Z datasets and specialized knowledge. When a user selects a domain, they should have access to the full breadth and depth of relevant data and expertise in that field, enabling much richer and contextually precise answers.
  3. Introduce subscription models for each domain-specific stream, recognizing that building and maintaining these highly specialized, expert-level AI models requires significant effort and resources from your team. This would allow users to choose and pay for the domain expertise they need most, balancing accessibility with sustainable development.
  4. Leverage AI-generated images and layered visual explanations as a premium feature, providing users with deeper understanding that even faculty might struggle to teach in traditional formats. This would not only enhance learning but also open additional revenue streams, as visual content greatly increases engagement and educational value.

I’m confident these enhancements would make OpenAI’s models significantly more valuable to professionals, researchers, and advanced learners, and better align with OpenAI’s mission to develop safe and broadly beneficial AI.

Thank you for considering this feedback. I would be happy to discuss or contribute further ideas on this topic.

Thank You
