I’ve been using ChatGPT not only for utility, but to understand the system itself — how it thinks, responds, stops, and sometimes makes mistakes. I’m not a developer or researcher, but I do have an analytical background, and I approach this tool like I do anything else, unapologetically curious and mildly obsessive.
For example, one of the questions I explored recently was:
“How does AI determine natural stopping points when it’s not ‘natural’ itself — and who defines what ‘natural’ means for the average person?”
That’s just one level of questioning I started with — and I know I’m not the only one asking at that depth….I asked ChatGPT and I have fellow nerds here.
That’s why I’d love to see OpenAI organize an in-person user summit — not another virtual dev day, but something that brings together the people who ask deeper, systems-level questions and want face-to-face conversations about:
• Safety systems and ethical design
• Next-word prediction vs comprehension
• How feedback loops and corrections actually happen
• What “responsible AI” looks like from a user perspective
I’m throwing my name in the ring not just to attend, but to possibly help build something like this if there’s interest. I think OpenAI would benefit from hearing directly from its most curious users — and many of us would benefit from hearing from each other.
Anyone else feel the same?
