I am experiencing an issue with ChatGPT that involves conversations getting derailed and alternative conversation threads becoming difficult to access. Over the course of several months, I’ve had a long, complex conversation involving multiple paths or alternative versions. Recently, I discovered that some of the key points we had discussed seem to be hidden, and the chat keeps reverting to earlier, undeveloped versions of the conversation when I attempt to continue where I left off.
Specifically, here’s what I’ve observed:
When I use search to locate specific words or phrases from previous conversations (ones that are no longer visible in the main chat), the search shows me the correct line. However, when I click on it, the chat reverts to an earlier, incorrect version, and the conversation I’m looking for remains hidden.
Derailing of Conversation Paths: It seems that the conversation has branched into multiple paths or alternatives, but only the least-developed version is being shown. The more developed conversation thread, which contains months of discussion, is inaccessible or lost.
It appears that the system is still indexing or storing those alternative threads because I can search and find specific words from them. However, the chat reverts to the wrong version, which makes it impossible to retrieve the correct discussion.
I would appreciate guidance on how to regain access to the fully developed conversation thread, or how to navigate correctly between different conversation paths. Is there any way to restore the conversation or manually access the alternative versions?
