Dear OpenAI Team,
I am a regular ChatGPT user, and I would like to express my dissatisfaction with the addition of Sora in the menu bar without any option to hide or disable it.
As I have no interest in video creation, I find it frustrating to be constantly exposed to a feature I do not intend to use. This forced integration negatively impacts the user experience by imposing a tool without considering individual preferences.
I kindly request that you consider adding an option to:
- Hide Sora from the ChatGPT interface.
- Completely disable access to Sora for users who do not wish to use it.
Allowing users to customize their interface would significantly enhance the experience and prevent the feeling of forced promotion.
I appreciate your attention to this matter and look forward to your response.
Best regards,

I completely agree with your frustration, and I’m frankly infuriated by this decision as well.
The forced presence of Sora in the ChatGPT interface—without even a basic option to hide or disable it—is not just annoying, it’s disrespectful to users who value a clean, distraction-free workspace. I do not want to see it. I do not want to use it. And I most certainly do not want OpenAI deciding what stays in my interface without my consent.
This is not just poor UX—it’s an authoritarian move, pushing a feature that many of us neither asked for nor appreciate. If OpenAI wants to promote a new tool, fine—but let it be optional. Forcing it onto paying users is unacceptable.
Count me in your request—and let me go one step further: OpenAI must provide a way to permanently remove or hide Sora from the interface. Anything less is a disregard for user control and interface integrity.
This needs to be addressed. And fast.

I would like this as well. I think its pretty disgusting that they have ads in the user interface without the option to hide them on a plus plan.
no I do not want to use sora. no I do not want to jump from a 20$/month plan to a 200$/month plan, how delusional do you have to be to think this is in any way going to do anything other than piss off the paying customer?

I saw it on my ChatGPT menu today and checked it out not knowing what it was. As I am not interested in video creation either I do not wish to have it showing up on my menu bar. Please give us the ability to remove it.
Yes. 1000% in agreement. Signing in to amplify this request. There are those of us who have specifically worked with ChatGPT because it has no text-to-image (or video) features. Because it’s clean. Sora is fine and great for those who want it. I don’t. In fact, I really need for it not to be there to the point that I’ll unsubscribe unless a feature is provided to disable it.
