Study on new ways of working with Codex

I’ve read that Codex is now fully or almost fully developed by Codex. I research software engineering and how it evolves, and I would like to talk to Codex developers, or the community more broadly, about how this works in practice. Can someone help me out and give me 30 minutes of their time?

Welcome to the forum!

Have you seen the OpenAI Developer blog?

Also check out OpenAI news

I did, but I’d like to talk to people - to validate/refute my theory. Do you know such teams? Could you answer the questions about your team?

Hi and welcome from me as well!

Is it an option to ask the questions here in the forum? That’s going to provide broad coverage of different perspectives and use cases.

The most you are likely to get is having one of your questions answered during an AMA, which are typically announced on X (Twitter). Developer-focused AMAs are relatively rare, and the specific developers you may want to ask a question might not even be participating in that session.

Ok, can I be allowed to post one link? I have a MS Forms with 9 multiple choice questions.

The easier way to be allowed to post links is to just get yourself promoted to trust level 1.

Get to trust level 1 by…

  • Entering at least 5 topics
  • Reading at least 30 posts
  • Spend a total of 10 minutes reading posts

I’m a bit surprised, because this did not read like nine multiple-choice questions. I was personally hoping for a more lively discussion here in the forum.

Here is one of my questions:

What best describes the role of software engineers?

  • “Implementers” writing and modifying code.
  • Feature owners in cross-functional teams.
  • Developers augmented by AI tools.
  • Orchestrators supervising autonomous AI systems.

I have a model that describes four different phases of SE (from classic teams, via cross-functional teams, agentic AI to multi-agentic AI with very few developers) - since Codex developers tend to be very agent-oriented, more than the usual companies I work with, I wanted to check if my theory is correct. I have 8 more of these questions

Thanks for the suggestion @EricGT - I got my promotion  Here is the link to the survey, can you help me?
