I got invited to an organization with the most basic role. I’d like to leave it or change to a personal organization so I can charge my own credits and use this, but it’s impossible. There’s no way to either leave the org or create my own. Clicking on the top left only shows the “Personal” org. But it’s not my actual own org; it’s the one I was invited to and have zero control over.
Try the “People” tab, there should be a “leave” button right beside your email:
You’ll need to contact OpenAI to have a new organization ID added and connected to your API login account. (that’s why they added a batch of “backup” personal orgs to many accounts in 2023, tired of doing this after accounts have no more organization).
Either “help” in the platform site, or email support@openai.com - with account logon details included.
What happened to your original? Did some other “owner” take it? Or is it this one that you allowed someone else to become owner and demote you?
The solution is to request a new organization and it’s documented here.
I was able to reproduce this issue.
An account with the Reader role cannot manage its own membership in an organization it has been invited to.
An error message appears: “You do not have permission to perform this action.” The People tab stays empty, and when attempting to download the list of members, the same error appears and the CSV file is empty.
The account can still be managed by the owner of the organization, who can remove the member.
