Add playback speed control to voice mode (like podcasts)

I would say even one speed increase option like 1.5 or 2x speed be very helpful

Hey @Jeannemb, totally get this, being stuck at one playback speed can feel pretty limiting, especially if you’re used to podcast-style controls.

Before this gets passed along, it’d really help to understand your setup a bit better:

  1. What are you ultimately trying to accomplish with faster playback?
  2. What are you doing today instead, and what’s not working about it?
  3. If this worked perfectly (say 1.5x or 2x), what would be noticeably better for you?

For now, a couple of folks have worked around this by switching voice models since some naturally speak faster or slower. You can also try prompting it to speak faster or slower in your instruction, not perfect but it can help a bit.

  1. i want to do things faster, its frustrating to listen to things so slowly. i should be able to listen at the speed i can ingest, and most of my generation are listening at 2x speed so used to it. Im a mom of 3 young kids and run a startup so this is not about some lame productivity hack its actually necessary to being able to stay on top of things

  2. i am not using voice for chatgpt but i would if you installed this, its way easier for me to talk than type

  3. i would only use voice then, its most efficient for me. i can work stuff out when i walk, drive, whatever

    i dont think the work arounds are good and given that this is something you can see is useful via youtube as a feature it seems like something really simple for you to add, why not?

Hey @Jeannemb, I get where you’re coming from. Having playback speed controls for voice would make a real difference, especially if voice is what would actually make ChatGPT practical for you while juggling a lot at once.
